Method

11. stud 1 orange with the 20 cloves.
2 2. peel the lemon and other orange and thinly slice the skin.
3 3.combine in a deep silver bowl the slivers of lemon and orange peels, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 10 sugar cubes.
4 4. heat but do not boil, then pour into the bowl: 3/4 cup brandy or 1/4 cointreau
5 5. Place the bowl onto a tray and b ring the tray, the orange, and a flameproof ladle to the table.
6 6. carefully ignite the liquid and ladle it over the peel and cinnamon until all the sugar has dissolved.
7 7. add the 4 cups of strong coffee
8 8. add 1/4 cup of brandy or 1/4 cointreau to the ladle and then carefully place the studded orange in it and ignite. Then lower the flaming ladle into the coffee allowing the orange to float.
9 9. Ladle out 4 servings into coffee cups
