Ingredients

1 package(16 ounces)penne pasta
2 tablespoonsolive oil
2Shallots; minced
2 clovesgarlic; minced
12 ouncesfresh mushrooms; sliced
1 poundground beef
1 can(14.5 ounces)stewed tomatoes
1 can(8 ounces)tomato sauce
2 teaspoonsdried basil
1 teaspoondried oregano
1/2 cupheavy cream
1/2 cupgrated Parmesan cheese

Method

StepInstruction
1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
2 Grease a large casserole dish.
3 Cook the pasta according to package directions.
4 Meanwhile, in a large pot, heat oil over medium heat.
5 Add the shallots and garlic; saute for 2 minutes.
6 Add the mushrooms and beef to the pot.
7 Cook until the meat is browned, about 5 minutes.
8 Stir in the tomatoes with liquid, tomato sauce, basil, oregano and cream; simmer for 5 minutes.
9 Remove from the heat.
10 Drain the pasta; add to the pot.
11 Stir in 1/4 cup Parmesan; mix well.
12 Spoon the mixture into the prepared dish.
13 Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan over the top.
14 Cover; bake for 15 minutes.
15 Uncover; bake until the cheese is melted, about 10 minutes
